Australia Day is a big old celebration, and where there’s an Aussie-related party there has to be some fairy bread. Okay, so it’s usually reserved for children’s parties, and our Aussie counterparts might not be anywhere near as enthusiastic about it as we think they are, but fairy bread is a wonderful treat that you should try at least once. And don’t knock it until then, because it is much nicer than it sounds. Plus, it’s a lot easier than baking a cake!
There’s nothing fancy about this recipe. Nothing at all. Cheap bread, cheap butter and big old tub of 100s & 1000s are all that’s required. You could feed army for about £3.
What you’ll need:
Butter or Margarine
100s & 1000s
What you’ll need to do:
1. Take a slice of bread and cut off the crust.
2. Spread the butter on thick, making sure to cover the entire slice of bread. Cut the bread into triangles.
3. Generously sprinkle on the 100s & 1000s to cover the bread.
4. Repeat with as many slices of bread as you can handle.
