Keeping the kids busy this summer can seem like a daunting task so we’ve put together some creative ideas to encourage them to channel their energy into the kitchen, along with the accompanying Savisto products you'll need to make the activity a success! Encouraging your kids to join you in the kitchen to cook up some tasty treats is a great way of keeping them active, while they learn some new skills along the way!
Host a Pizza Party!
Kids love pizza and parties, so what’s not to enjoy? A pizza party will teach children essential kitchen skills such as kneading and rolling dough while having fun building their very own pizza. Kids will love rolling up their sleeves, getting their hands messy (sorry in advance) and becoming a chef for the day! Encourage them to create delicious healthy pizzas by having toppings such as ham, cherry tomatoes and sweet peppers on offer; the kids can use these toppings to make funny faces or patterns on their pizza.A ceramic pizza stone can help create that authentic stone baked pizza taste It also doubles up as a stand during service and comes with a free pizza cutter – your little chefs will have everything they need (adult supervision is required)!
Plan a Picnic
Take the hassle out of picnicking by including the kids in everything from choosing the treats, to packing them up – they will love being involved. Picnic food should be quick and easy, try fruit salads, muffins (sweet and savoury), sandwiches and homemade sausage rolls. You could have a themed picnic to make it even more fun, a teddy bears picnic is always a good choice.
the kids to help you pack the picnic bag, making sure to include cutlery, dinnerware, glasses and, of course, a blanket – everything you need to enjoy the perfect day out with your family
(although we can’t guarantee sunshine!).
Make Ice Cream
Why not use the summer holidays as the perfect excuse for some homemade ice cream. You can stock up your freezer with treats for the kids and by adding fresh fruit you can make it a healthier option, which is always a bonus. Let their imagination run wild, as they create their own ice cream flavours and toppings. How about a summer berries ice cream with raspberries and strawberries, or zingy lemon and blueberry? The possibilities are endless!
